This Evening @ 6:00PM,
St. Louis Central Library – Auditorium

Please see the message, below, from Downtown St. Louis, Inc (DSI)’s Design Downtown STL initiative regarding a free talk by Futurist Anthony Townsend.

Dear Downtown Neighborhood Association Member:

I want to invite you to learn about the future trends shaping cities like St. Louis at a public event with futurist and author of Smart Cities, Anthony Townsend. Townsend will discuss the key technological and economic trends shaping our cities and how Downtown St. Louis can grow smarter and stay ahead of the curve over the next 10-50 years.

The event, titled “Why Cities Are Amazing And How Technology Makes Them Work,” is hosted by Design Downtown STL, a comprehensive planning process for the coming decade in Downtown.

It will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, in the Auditorium of the Central Library Downtown (1301 Olive Street).

In his presentation, Townsend will focus on topics that will drive the future of cities and downtowns, including retail, housing, leisure, work, mobility, and demographics. He will take a critical look at the readiness of Downtown St. Louis’ innovation ecosystem, draw out insights on how global trends affect the Design Downtown STL plan, and discuss some specific actions or decisions that can be made to address key issues or hedge against risks.

While the event is free and open to the public, in order to gauge turnout, we ask that you register using this Eventbrite link (or click the button below).

I hope you can attend this unique opportunity to hear about the future of Downtown St. Louis from one of the foremost experts on where cities are headed in the years to come.

There’s still time to submit your name idea!

The Chouteau Greenway project seeks to connect Forest Park to the Gateway Arch through a series of carefully constructed pathaways. It plans to bring together neighborhoods to the north and south and will stretch north, south, east, and west in an attempt to break through real and perceived barriers in the city.

Folks have said that the name “Chouteau Greenway” is hard to say and spell, and that it isn’t meaningful to everyone. The greenway needs a new name that reflects the changes needed and opportunities that are abound for St. Louisans.

To submit your name idea, click the button below to fill out the form, or text the word “NAME” to 77222, by January 31st.
